Society Makes Me Hate Being Childfree!

$25

Our baby-obsessed culture dictates that my interpersonal relationships are poisoned, as my goals and interests that solely serve me, as well as the time I invest in these goals and interests, are not as important as any time I would be spending breast feeding, doing homework, picking up toys, cleaning up vomit, placing bandages on scraped knees, or begging my husband for another child. I can tell that on a subconscious level my friends and family do not respect my time as much as they would had I chose differently.

I cannot even voice a simple, “I don’t want to have kids” response and be left alone without society’s appointed bullies, also known as parents, telling me that I will change my mind when I’m older. I heard this same rhetoric at five years old and I still hear it now decades later. You see, as a childfree woman I am allowed to be harassed, outed, embarrassed, talked down to, and even yelled at, all because I choose to possess some damn autonomy over the womb that solely belongs to me.
